UGM and KAGAMA successfully held an alumni gathering on Saturday (13/1) at the Sritanjung Room of Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center. This event was an effort to strengthen the synergy between the university and its alumni to enhance their contributions to society. The Chairperson of KAGAMA Banyuwangi, drg. Dodik Dwi Suryanto, warmly welcomed UGM’s presence in Banyuwangi and expressed hope that this collaboration could help elevate UGM’s programs on the international stage.
“Hopefully, this event will run smoothly and successfully, also special thanks to KAGAMA Jember for attending this event,” said Dodik.
Also present was Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., UGM’s Vice-Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems. He expressed his gratitude for the presence of KAGAMA Banyuwangi and KAGAMA Jember. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of finding solutions to the problems faced by society and hoped that KAGAMA alumni could make significant contributions to UGM.
“UGM is making efforts to become more than just an institution of higher education that produces graduates with high knowledge,” said Arief. He also added that UGM is moving towards becoming a key driver of national development. He highlighted the importance of engagement between alumni and the university in addressing societal issues.
Dr. Hatma Suryatmojo, S.Hut., M.Si., Director of Academic Studies and Innovation at UGM, furthermore provided an update on the overall condition of UGM to the alumni. His presentation gave an overview of the developments and innovations being undertaken by UGM in various fields.
The event continued with a discussion session involving the participants. The discussion covered various topics, including how UGM could collaborate in the preservation of national parks, respond to requests for cooperation from abroad, and identify areas of collaboration that could benefit all parties. Additionally, the importance of follow-up after community service programs (KKN) in villages was discussed, as well as ways to involve the Ministry of Manpower in community empowerment efforts.
The synergy between UGM and KAGAMA Banyuwangi is expected to grow and make significant contributions to problem-solving and community development, both in Banyuwangi and nationally.
