Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA) organized a preparatory event for prospective graduates of the Postgraduate, Specialist, and Sub-specialist Programs for January 2024. The event was held on Tuesday (23/1) at the Grha Sabha Pramana, 2nd floor.

The preparatory event was attended by 854 enthusiastic prospective graduates eager to gain insights and share knowledge with successful alumni in their respective fields. The event aimed to provide a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the professional world and prepare them to become intellectuals and practitioners who contribute to the nation and society.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., expressed his happiness at the achievements of these prospective graduates after their educational journey at UGM. He hopes they will be able to make positive contributions to the nation and society.

“Thank you for choosing UGM as your place of learning. May we all contribute to the advancement of the nation and society,” said Dr. Arie Sujito.

Also present at the event was the Deputy Secretary-General for Policy Studies and Advocacy at KAGAMA, dr. Yanri Wijayanti Subronto, Ph.D., Sp.PD-KPTI. In her remarks, dr. Yanri highlighted the uniqueness of KAGAMA, which has a diverse community. Various KAGAMA community groups facilitate alumni with specific interests and hobbies, such as KAGAMA Beksan, Adiswara, and others. She also emphasized the importance of upholding the values of Pancasila in fulfilling their roles as alumni.

“With the motto of unity, harmony, and usefulness, KAGAMA is expected to always be beneficial and helpful to others, for all time,” added Dr. Yanri.

At the same event, UGM launched a new book titled *“Meneropong Srikandi UGM Edisi 2”*. The book launch is an effort to inspire and strengthen the role of accomplished women who are UGM alumni in various fields in society.

The preparatory event also featured Nezar Patria, S.Fil., M.Sc., M.B.A., who is the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, as the keynote speaker. Nezar Patria discussed trends in digital transformation in global industries, the increasing use of digital technology in public services and economic activities, and the importance of having basic skills in information and communication technology (ICT) to access education and jobs. He also highlighted that digital transformation is based on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, and he encouraged prospective graduates to pursue training in cyber security, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data analytics, digital marketing, and more. The event concluded with a discussion session where the graduates engaged with the Deputy Minister.

“As a UGM alumnus and a part of KAGAMA, I invite all prospective graduates to take part in advancing the nation’s digital sovereignty. Strengthen collaboration and synergy to realize a more connected Indonesia,” he emphasized.

With this preparatory event, it is hoped that the prospective graduates will be well-prepared to face challenges in the professional world and make meaningful contributions to the nation and society. May they apply the insights and knowledge gained to achieve success in their respective fields.
