UGM hosted “Consolidation UGM and PP KAGAMA” on Tuesday (7/11). This event was attended by the deans of faculties and school of UGM, and boards of UGM and PP KAGAMA. The event aims to strengthen the synergy between UGM and KAGAMA in escalating their contributions to the nation and state.
Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng., UGM Rector, stated that UGM and KAGAMA strengthened their emotional bond to collaboratively increase UGM’s achievements and reputation. UGM can definitely create a strong network considering UGM reputation and its alumni who are contributing in remote areas and even abroad.
“KAGAMA has supported UGM in many ways. For instance; increasing the response rate for tracer study, alumni back to campus (guest lecturers and speakers of debriefing for prospective graduates), scholarships, and supporting Kampus Merdeka (independent learning)”, he added.
He also highlighted that KAGAMA plays a significant role in increasing the UGM reputation. Therefore, UGM and KAGAMA must continually strengthen each other.
Budi Karya Sumadi, Deputy Chairperson I of KAGAMA, said that the synergy between UGM and KAGAMA is indeed significant. Also, UGM and KAGAMA must collaboratively increase human resources. The inauguration of the new dean is also one way to keep creativity, innovation, and cooperation present. For example, the collaboration on trains between the Graduate School and the Ministry of Transportation.
Universities and KAGAMA play key roles in solving problems in society. Ganjar Pranowo, General Chairperson of PP KAGAMA, stated that UGM and KAGAMA must respond quickly to technological advances. In addition, as human resource development emerges from the campus, universities, particularly the rectors, must design a strategy.
Following that was an interactive dialogue moderated by Prof. Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., Vice-rector for Cooperation and UGM Alumni.
“KAGAMA and UGM is one, there is no KAGAMA without UGM and versa. It is hard to imagine UGM maintaining its identity without KAGAMA,” he said.
The newly appointed deans of faculties and schools discuss on-going innovation and creativity during this interactive dialogue session. Each faculty provides brilliant ideas for innovations that are beneficial for the university, nation, and country. The communication that is established is not only limited to PP KAGAMA but also to all KAGAMA members in responding to all problems in the community.
On the same occasion, AAGN Ari Dwipayana suggested that KAGAMA and UGM could design interdisciplinary activities or programs to solve problems and continue evaluating any innovations.
Through this consolidation, it is hoped that UGM and KAGAMA can continue to collaborate in managing and developing outstanding human resources for the nation.
