Successfully held for the second time by the UGM Alumni Office, the Career Preparation Class (CPC) was attended by more than 60 students from various faculties at UGM. The event took place at the Seminar Room of the UGM Library and Archives, 2nd floor, and was led by Wicaksono Hario Putro, Vice President of Bank Mandiri Persero. During this session, Wicaksono shared his insights on how to build personal branding in the workplace.
Wicaksono emphasized the importance of not rushing to catch the recruiter’s attention. He suggested that we should attract their interest with something that showcases our best qualities. Kindness and humility are always associated with people who are results-oriented.
Additionally, Wicaksono provided key rules when dealing with recruiters, including maintaining a calm facial expression, positive body language, and positive energy. All these elements are crucial parts of personal branding.
Wicaksono also gave tips on how to build a brand in the work environment. According to him, it is important to remain true to oneself and present the best version of oneself.
“The next step after building personal branding is to demonstrate good performance,” said Wicaksono. He stressed that daily work performance should exceed the field we specialize in. “Don’t let your job be just about numbers, but tell the story,” he added.
Furthermore, Wicaksono highlighted the importance of first impressions, which can have a significant impact on building personal branding. “How you brand your personality is your own choice,” Wicaksono advised.
By building strong personal branding, individuals can increase their chances of securing a job, developing their careers, and contributing to inclusive economic growth, aligning with SDG 8. The Career Preparation Class with Wicaksono Hario Putro is expected to provide valuable insights for UGM students preparing to enter the workforce. With an understanding of personal branding, participants can build successful careers and showcase their best potential. Personal branding can also help individuals achieve sustainable economic growth and decent work, allowing participants to build successful careers and shine their best potential.
