Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA) built synergy during the Orientation Program for Prospective Graduate Students for the April 2024 period on Tuesday (23/4) at Grha Sabha Pramana, 2nd floor.
The event began with a speech from the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni UGM, Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si. In his remarks, Dr. Arie congratulated all graduates on their achievements, while also expressing UGM’s pride in the contributions of its alumni in various fields. He emphasized the importance of synergy between alumni and UGM, particularly through their involvement in KAGAMA, and expressed his hope that UGM’s educational programs will continue to provide tangible benefits for alumni.
“UGM always hopes that the delivery of education can be beneficial and meaningful for alumni. UGM constantly strives to facilitate the best so that the process of education, which includes personal growth, is an effort to further mature,” Arie said.
Next, the Coordinator of the Arts and Culture Development Department of PP KAGAMA, Ir. R.A Belinda Arunawati Margono, M.Sc., Ph.D., delivered a speech to the graduates. Belinda congratulated them and reminded them that regardless of their bachelor’s degree, if they earned their master’s or doctoral degree from UGM, they are part of KAGAMA. She encouraged graduates to actively participate in KAGAMA activities and to make use of the community facilities provided.
The event continued with a presentation by Mr. Hery Trianto, Marketing Director of Bisnis Indonesia Group. Hery shared his career experience as a journalist and the journey that led him to his current position. As an alumnus of UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hery has made significant contributions in the media industry, both nationally and internationally.
In his presentation, Hery explained that the media today does not only serve as a content provider but has also evolved and transformed into a platform that offers better services through digital platforms and activation. He stated that the media can be a partner in communication strategies, digital solutions, media integration, and creative content creation. Hery also emphasized the importance of competence, networking, resilience, and interpersonal skills in fulfilling media tasks. He urged graduates to build strong confidence and mindsets, high team spirit, and a sense of responsibility and execution.
“The best work is done with love. The best job is when we love what we do. I encourage graduates to contribute the best for the nation and our alma mater,” concluded Hery.
Hery’s presentation is expected to provide inspiration and motivation for graduates of the postgraduate, specialist, and subspecialist programs for the April 2023/2024 academic year. UGM hopes to continue to be an institution of higher education that produces excellent human resources and provides stable job opportunities in the future. Through synergy between UGM and KAGAMA, graduates are expected to continue developing their potential and contributions in various fields, and to be part of a strong and influential alumni network.
