The UGM Alumni Office and President University held a strategic discussion aimed at optimizing Career Center services on Thursday (1/2). The meeting was attended by representatives from President University, including the Director of Internship & Career Center, Director of Alumni Relations, Head of Internships, Head of Career Development, and other representatives from the Internship & Career Center.
Dr. Sulistyowati, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the UGM Alumni Office, along with her team, warmly welcomed the visitors at the Alumni Office, Bulaksumur Complex, Block D5. The discussion focused on learning from UGM’s experience in developing student and graduate competencies and the strategies used to engage third parties, especially corporations, in career development.
President University, a top-accredited private university located in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang, Bekasi, has established the Internship & Career Center (ICC) to enhance career opportunities for its students and graduates. Given the rapid changes in the business landscape, particularly due to technological advancements, the ICC aims to continuously improve the competencies and quality of services offered.
This strategic discussion serves as a starting point to explore the various activities conducted by UGM’s Career Center, such as facilitating access to information on career development and opportunities. Some of the activities organized by the UGM Career Center include recruitment, company talks, career fairs, and campus hiring events.
Through recruitment, the UGM Career Center provides job and internship information to students and graduates. Additionally, company talks offer students and alumni the chance to attend corporate presentations, seminars, and webinars, preparing them early to enter the workforce and gain insights from industry professionals on self-development.
Besides focusing on Career Center optimization, the strategic discussion between the UGM Alumni Office and President University also covered several initiatives aimed at strengthening alumni relations. Examples include the Alumni Awards, which recognize outstanding UGM alumni who have made significant contributions in various fields to drive positive change in society. Other initiatives include alumni meet-ups and the Sahabat UGM program. These events allow UGM alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and strengthen ties with their alma mater.
The strategic discussion between the UGM Alumni Office and President University is expected to yield collaborative steps to enhance career development and professional opportunities for alumni of both institutions.
