The KAGAMA DKI Jakarta Alumni Gathering was successfully held at Taman Patra X, Number 7, Kuningan Timur, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (31/1). Over 40 alumni living in Jakarta attended the event. The gathering began with an opening speech by the President Director of Pertamina Patra Jasa, Mr. Putut Ariwibowo.
“Thank you for the trust given by UGM and KAGAMA for allowing us to host this event. Hopefully, this forum can run smoothly and spark brilliant ideas for UGM,” he expressed.
Following this, the Deputy Chairman II of PP KAGAMA, Prof. Drs. Anwar Sanusi, MPA, Ph.D., delivered a speech emphasizing the crucial role of alumni in advancing and enhancing the university’s reputation. In his remarks, Mr. Anwar Sanusi stressed that alumni are one of the key pillars supporting the growth of the university. He highlighted the significance of UGM alumni in driving the university forward and fostering KAGAMA as a strong family bond. The main goal of this Alumni Gathering was to gather valuable input from successful alumni while preventing the disengagement of inactive members. Alumni are seen as vital in realizing UGM’s vision as a World Class University.
“We aim to gather information to help make UGM a world-class university. We believe that, aside from academic pillars, a reputable campus is also greatly supported by its alumni,” Anwar stated.
The next speech by UGM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, Ph.D., reinforced Mr. Anwar Sanusi’s perspective. The Rector acknowledged that alumni play a backbone role in the university’s reputation. The outstanding contributions made by alumni will, directly or indirectly, elevate UGM’s standing. The Rector also expressed confidence that cooperation between the university and alumni is a noble endeavor for the nation’s betterment.
“Alumni are the backbone of the university, and we recognize that the solid and extraordinary achievements of our alumni will undoubtedly enhance the university’s quality, ultimately benefiting this nation,” Prof. Ova emphasized.
The event continued with a discussion session focusing on UGM and KAGAMA initiatives to strengthen collaboration with alumni. One idea proposed was initiating a cross-country community service (KKN) program. Various programs can be developed within the KKN framework, and stronger collaboration between UGM and its alumni can enhance engagement between the two.
The KAGAMA DKI Jakarta Alumni Gathering successfully fostered solidarity and collaboration among UGM alumni. This event is expected to be a starting point for closer cooperation between UGM and its alumni in advancing the university and making a more significant contribution to the nation and society.
