Alumni Dinner is an annual event organized by the Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives (DKAUI) as part of the Anniversary of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Housed in Balairung UGM, the event which took place on Saturday (17/12) night was attended by about 400 alumni from different regions and professions. UGM Alumni that are having governmental career such as Prof. Dr. Pratikno, M.Soc.Sc., who is a State Secretary, Ir. Budi Karya Sumadi who is the Minister of Transportation, as well as Ganjar Pranowo, SH, M.IP. also attended the event to enliven the 67th Anniversary of UGM.
Adiswara Gadjah Mada Choir started Alumni Dinner with the performance of “Yogyakarta” song, which further added to the alumni’s longing for Yogyakarta. A number of traditional dances were also presented for the attending alumni of Alumni Dinner. The event was opened by rector Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati, M. Sc., Ph. D. through her brief acknowledgement. “Have a nostalgic night, enjoy reminiscing your days with your longtime friends. Let us relish this togetherness,” urged Dwikorita.
A different thing that happened in this year’s Alumni Dinner was that the attendees got to watch together the 2016 Final AFF match between Indonesia and Thailand National Teams. Unintentionally, the Alumni Dinner was held at the same time with the match. Although they had to settle for runner-up position achieved by the Indonesian national team, there was a greater sense of kinship surrounding the room.
In this occasion, KAGAMA formally awarded KAGAMA Batch VI scholarships to pre-selected five students of UGM.
The night full of warmth and kinship was closed by Ganjar Pranowo as Chairman of KAGAMA PP by providing suggestions regarding the promotion of KAGAMA magazine that will be launched at the peak of UGM 67th Anniversary.
