“People with vision but without value are dreamers. Meanwhile, people with vision and values but without execution or real action is just nonsense,” said Drs. Agus Susanto, M.M., President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Employment BPJS). The motivation was given at the graduation debriefing of period January 2017 Postgraduate Program on Wednesday (18/01) at Graha Sabha Pramana UGM.
The briefing was initiated with an overview of the Indonesia’s economic growth that is ranked 3rd in the world, furthermore Agus told the audience about the economic challenges in the digital economy era. “Right now, we have many challenges to face, that are the global economy, the ASEAN Economic Community, population problems, and challenges of the digital ecosystem,” said Agus. Not to forget, Agus shared three keys to success in career, they are; firmly held integrity, trust-building, and synergy-forming for teamwork. “Have a strong desire and be optimistic to achieve those desires!” Agus told the 1,097 briefing participants who will graduate the next day. The alumnus of the Department of Politics and Government, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM also expressed his pride as an UGM graduate because according to him, UGM has good value and character building that furthermore can be applied after graduating from the university.
To furthermore prepare the prospective graduates, also attended was Ari Askhara, Director of Human Capital and Development PT. Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. “Graduation does not mean an escalation in rank, neither a benchmark for success. Graduation means to return to the routine of work and competition,” said Ari who is an alumnus of the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM. Furthermore, Ari revealed three necessary things to run a self-branding, they are; belief for the success of what is undertaken, focus on detail, and don’t be a quitter.
“Completing postgraduate education is not simply a matter of degree. But it is about mindset maturing and strengthening. Be different, especially in the era of digital economy today. Be creative, be innovative, and be grateful,” said Ari motivated the prospective graduates. For Ari, matured mindset and big ideas are not derived from the discussion. Big ideas emerge from self thoughts and discussion is only one way to execute those ideas. Therefore, he hoped that every graduate of UGM can be creative and innovative.
The briefing that was moderated by Analisa Widyaningrum, M.Psi., Psi., Founder of Analisa Personality Development Center, was becoming more interesting with interactive discussion sessions held between the participants and speakers.
