Gadjah Mada Volleyball Alumni (AVOGAMA) held a cross-generation Grand Reunion for members of the Volleyball Student Activity Unit (UKM) UGM on Thursday-Friday (28-29 / 10). Located in the Hall of Student Center UGM, this reunion was attendedby members of AVOGAMA from the class of 1970 and on. There are various series of activities in this reunion of which are fun games for cross-generation as well as employees and lecturers of UGM, watching together GAMA CUP Universities Volleyball Championship 2016, gathering night, night culinary travel, and AVOGAMA Workshop with the theme “Alumni Participation in the Development of Volleyball UKM”.
Muhsin Al Anas, as head of the reunion committee said that this activity is not only aiming for relationship strengthening but also to support increase of Volleyball UKM UGM achievements which had stood since 1983. “Grand reunion is a good momentum to support Volleyball UKM becoming one of the UKM which gains UGM many achievement, as well as one that is capable of forming the students’ character,” said Muhsin.
AVOGAMA grand reunion activities was closed with a gala dinner and gathering which were packaged in the form of interactive talk show involving students, alumni and private parties. According to one of the alumni, Arudji Wahyono, Volleyball UKM should be a role model for other UKM, that is because they have a clear vision and mission, so as to hone the students’ soft skills, street smart, and general intelligence. In addition, synergy among alumni, UKM, and UGM is also necessary, to form a close relationship and strength for UKM and the impact on the UKM’s achievement.
This activity was attended by the Vice Rector of Cooperation and Alumni, Dr. Paripurna, which also inaugurated the management of AVOGAMA 2016-2018 period. On the occasion, Dr. Paripurna said that UKMs are expected to be a forum for students to develop themselves, and also able to gain the university achievements. “Hopefully, this activity is able to awaken synergy among alumni, UGM, and UKMs, so the UKMs will progress better with more achievements,” he said.
