Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organizes Alumni Meet and Education Promotion in ASEAN countries during the months of September to October 2016. This is one way to increase the university’s reputation towards World Class University status by organizing the UGM education promotion along with Alumni Meet. The program began in several ASEAN countries namely Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. This is done considering a strong alumni association will support their positions in ASEAN countries on facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
On Saturday (24/9) UGM started this roadshow by holding Alumni Meet at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Cambodia. The event was well received by the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. H.E. Pitono Purnomo. UGM delegations that ware led by the Director of the Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives, Dr. Anna Marie Wattie, M.A., said that through this activity the alumni are expected to be ambassadors of UGM programs either education, research, or community service. One of UGM alumni, Mr. Vannak, who is also the chairman of Cambodia KAGAMA, welcomed this event. He hoped that soon there will be a new inauguration on Cambodia KAGAMA, given his stewardship has actually ended in 2010. The alumni had long been expecting a meeting of this kind, and that is the first time it’s realized. They hoped that such activities can be held annually to give them the latest information about UGM.
UGM delegations also visited the University of Cambodia for the education promotion and cooperation exploration. UGM also participated in the Indonesian Trading and Tourism Promotion in 2016 organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia on September 23rd to 25th 2016. On that occasion, there was a mini education fair and UGM had the opportunity to present their programs.
The next roadshow was held at the Office of the Embassy of Laos on Monday (3/10). UGM delegations’ visit on October 3rd, 2016, led by Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., Akt., M.Com., As Vice Rector for Planning, Finance and Information System, was received by the Ambassador of Laos, Mr. Irmawan Emir Wisnandar.
