“It is never too late to build personal branding. Even though naturally we have our own character and also influenced by the environment since we are little, there is a part of us that can be changed in order to achieve our success,” said Analisa Widyaningrum, a psychologist. That was delivered on the ‘Wardah Bright Days Campus Roadshow’ Seminar that is a result of Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations of UGM cooperation with Wardah Cosmetic on Thursday (10/11) at the UGM Central Library Seminar Room.
Personal branding is an important thing to support one’s success. But to build personal branding is not an instant process, because basically personal branding is formed by several aspects. Not only your capability, personal branding also need to be supported with a good personality, communication skill, and network.
Communication skill becomes an important thing because personal branding is about how we want to present ourselves in front of other people. Therefore, we have to be effective in communicating a message so that it does not accepted negatively. To build communication skills can be started with verbal communication. This involves voice, volume, and intonation clarity.
Besides that, there is also non-verbal communication that is also important in building personal branding. Non-verbal communication involves posture, hand gesture, eye contact, and facial expression. Don’t forget to smile! With smiling, there will be created a smiling voice that is more comfortable to listen to. Therefore, there will be created better personal branding. “Stop comparing yourself with others. The more it piles up inside ourselves, the less you’ll be able to focus and be thankful for your strengths. Therefore, our confidence will decrease and we can’t advance,” said Analisa closing the seminar by motivating the participants.
Appearance is also one thing that must be considered in establishing a good personal branding. Therefore, Dr. Hemas Nura provided skin care tips according to skin type. [Eva]
