“To learn something is not a difficult thing. The difficult thing is to make someone has a desire to learn,” said Ahmad Yuniarto, Founder of Biru Peduli Foundation Indonesia on the debriefing of prospective graduates of undergraduate and diploma programs of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) November 16 period. Took place on Tuesday (15/11) at Gedung Sabha Pramana (GSP), the debriefing that was moderated by Wisnu Martha Adhiputra, who is a lecturer from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, was attended by more than 200 prospective graduates.
As an UGM alumni who is not working on the study field he has taken, Ahmad told a lot about the career world illustration and the challenges we have to face. “the career world is a world where we have to be able to collaborate with various study fields and we have to be adaptable,” said Ahmad while talking about competitiveness and innovation skill of Indonesia’s higher education institution alumni.
“As alumni of higher education institution, we have high moral and social responsibility. We have to maximize our impact to the community for that. We have to be better, or if it is not possible, then we have to be different. It is certainly possible for us because UGM has built our character well,” said Ahmad ending his session by motivating the prospective graduates.
Not only presenting Ahmad Yuniarto, this debriefing also presented Dahlia Citra Buana, which is the Executive Producer of Mata Najwa. Having a career in journalism with governance political background makes her feel like she’s not corresponding with her field of study. “Brave heart. There is nothing wrong with changing our career path as long as we are certain. Certain to take the risk and willing to learn to survive in the career world or creation,” said Citra while telling her work experience.
She admitted, it is quite hard to adapt to the new environment and without journalism background. But for her, the desire to learn is the main key of her life journey. “Experience is an important thing. But, confidence, risk-taking and willing to learn attitude, are not less important,” explained Citra before ending her session with a backstage video of Mata Najwa. [Eva]
