UGM gave awards and appreciations yet again to outstanding alumni who have contributions and inspiring actions both nationally and internationally. This year, the awards bestowed upon the five best graduates from different fields after going through a selection process and judging.
The award-winning best alumni are; alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Triono Untung Priyadi in his work in the field of entrepreneurship as an innovator and pioneer of white oyster mushroom cultivation in Cianjur; alumnus of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Wahyudi Anggoro Hadi, S.Fam., Apt., in his work in the field of cultural preservation by building a culture-conscious community named “Komunitas Pojok Budaya” in the region of Bantul.
In the field of empowerment of underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas, the award is given to Aditya Dipta Anindita, S. Sos., M.Si. The alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences was chosen for his dedication in education by building educational programs for indigenous communities and marginalized groups. Besides, Aditya also established Sokola Foundation in 2003 which also became a mentor to Sokola Rimba in Jambi and Sokola Wailago in NTT.
As with Ritno Kurniawan, SP. who was awarded the outstanding young alumnus from the2011 graduate of Faculty of Agriculture, he was chosen for his dedication in pioneering the tourism area of Nyarai Waterfall, previously the dismissal of illegal timber in Gamaran, West Sumatra. While the final award was given to Prof. Rindit Pambayun, M.P. as an outstanding alumnus in the field of innovation, design, and creativity.
The awards were given directly by UGM Rector Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., in the awarding night of outstanding people of UGM held at Graha Sabha Pramana on Wednesday (14/12) night. In her speech, Dwikorita expectedthat this eventcan encourage the rest of UGM academic community to be able to work and reach achievements in accordance with their field and expertise. “Hopefully this can be an inspiration and motivation to be able to work and excel in their respective fields,” he said.
Similar thing was also expressed by Prof. Rindit in his speech representing the outstanding alumni award winners. For this innovator in the local food development field, hopefully the award he earned can inspire other UGM alumni to work and to contribute to the nation.
