In the era of information technology advances, programmers graduate from computer program and and informatics engineering have been like much sought “diamonds”. In addition to offers from flourishing digital startup companies, the government is currently also looking for many IT experts for the development of online-based community service system apps. Among these is the Local Government (Pemda) Hulu Sungai Tengah, South Kalimantan Province, which is now giving an opportunity of contract workers recruitment for UGM graduates to work in the local government on the development of e-Government applications. This was said by a staff of Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Hulu Sungai Tengah, Irfan Sunarko, S.T., M.Si., in his visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada on Wednesday (21/12) morning.
“The Regency of Hulu Sungai Tengah is now promoting e-Government, thus requiring professionals in the IT field in order to develop an online-based application system,” he said.
The recruitment is intended to boost the quality of local government in public service. This is because professionals in the IT field in Hulu Sungai Tengah still deemed less. So, they need UGM graduate experts to be able to develop such system, no exception for fresh graduate.
Pemda Hulu Sungai Tengah presence which was represented by two of the BAPPEDA staffs was welcomed by UGM in the Meeting Room of the Board of Professors. Representing the university, Head of Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations UGM, Dr. Sulistyowati said that UGM greatly appreciates their presence on this campus. According to her, UGM, who asserts as the “University of the Villages”, fully supports programs of quality improvement of public services and human resources development in the local level.
“UGM welcomes and is ready to assist local development programs. This is no other because UGM as a populist and community service campus that has passion in supporting regional development,” she said.
Sulistyowati added, UGM is also open to working with the Local Government of Hulu Sungai Tengah in other fields. Among the cooperations that can be done are; partnership scholarships for ‘sons of the soil’, government employee training, and KKN implementation. This is in accordance with the spirit of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi owned by UGM: education, research, and community service.
“UGM also cooperates with many regions in Indonesia on the governmental work contract scholarship for the ‘sons of the soil’ and implementation thematic KKN,” she said. [Eggy]
