One of reputable media companies in Indonesia, MetroTV, held recruitment at the office of Sub-directorate of Alumni Relation Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Thursday (30/3). A total of more than 40 entrants participated in the selection to fill the various offered positions, such as News Anchor, Presenter, Reporter, and Camera Person. This recruitment is not only for graduates who have broadcasting background like Communication Science, but it is open for those who are interested in the journalism world.
“The criteria we’re looking for is of course those who have passion in journalism, interested to be reporters that are informative and able to benefit the community,” said Nizar Kheride, Head of MetroTV Bureau Yogyakarta.
The recruitment series which was started at 07.30 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) was consisted og brief interview and on-cam test to see participant’s ability in front of camera. Later on, qualified participants will undergo medical test, psychological test, and another interview. There will be also training to be held together with senior MetroTV presenters and journalists.
“Participants who are considered to have excellent abilities, other than being the reporting team for MetroTV Bureau Yogyakarta, also have opportunities to be MetroTV National journalists. Because this selection is also monitored and assessed directly from Jakarta,” he added.
According to Nizar, MetroTV chose UGM as the place of this recruitment because it has similarity in terms of commitment to support public disclosure of information. He saw many publications that are delivered to the public by UGM and it is very beneficial for the community. Other than that, he also considered UGM as a quality university that is well known to have graduates with excellent capabilities.
“We are also here to support the employment of potential human resources, we’re sure of UGM’s quality, and we are intending to absorb UGM’s quality seeds that are interested in broadcasting world,” said Nizar.
