“In line with the program of Socio Digi Leader 2017 by Telkom Indonesia, UGM has the same passion with its tagline that is Socioentrepreneurship University,” said Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., Akt., M.Com., Vice-rector of Planning, Finance, and Information System of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Through his speech at the opening of an interactive talkshow and launching of Socio Digi Leaders 2017 that was held on Monday (15/05), Didi said that UGM encourages alumni and students to have entrepreneurship spirit and bring it to the community as the social aspect in the development of their business.
UGM Yogyakarta became the chosen university as the venue for the launch of Socio Digi Leaders 2017 because of the diversity in it. “The second round of this program chose Yogyakarta which is full of creative people and especially UGM which is one of the five campuses in Indonesia with the largest number of foreign students,” explained Anang Tiandono, Head of Telkom of Socio Digi Leaders 2017 Program.
Presented Arief Muhammad (Vlogger), Erix Soekamti (Founder of Does University), and Billu Boen (Founder and Author of Young on Top) as speakers, the event that was held at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM was attended by more than 2,000 visitors from various universities.
“Digital is tools, it does not necessarily change the work we do. Therefore, we must always be ready to innovate and learn,” said Erix. For Erix who is an original musician of Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta is the most suitable place to develop creativity because of the limited media access and other things that make the process to achieve success must be done with many creative ideas.
Continuing what Erix had said, Billy affirmed that whatever creative ideas you have, the main purpose of doing business is to be useful and to be able to contribute to the society and nation. “Telkom Indonesia and the telecommunications business will stop its sustainability if there are no creative young people like you. It is you that is needed!” Billy said motivating the talkshow participants.
Agreed with the two previous speakers, Arif insisted that social media is just a platform so what is needed to create something is to know your passion, find the suitable circle, increase your references, and be consistent. “Respect yourself by setting your target as high as possible!” Arif concluded.
“BUMN (State Owned Enterprises) is considered too rigid and is lacking creativity. However, as a global company, Telkom Indonesia ensures that it will benefit many people by building creativity in the community. One way is with this program,” said Herdy Harman, Director of HCM of PT Telkom which explained in more detail about the program of Socio Digi Leaders 2017. Unlike the previous year, thecompetition idea this year is not just based on digital applications. In addition, the scope of the competition is also wider as it opens opportunities for overseas students and fresh graduates, especially Australia and Singapore.
The event that was hosted by Fira Sasmita and Alit Jabangbayi from 10:00 to 13:00, ended with a performance by Jaz that managed to amaze the talkshow participants.
