All of today’s life aspects can not be separated from the role of technological development. Other than making activities significantly easier, the rapidly evolving digital age trend is creating very fast and unpredictable changes. It also raises a variety of new challenges and problems that are more complex, no exception in the career world. For that, alumni are required to prepare themselves to be able to adapt to what the era development needs.
As stated by Tonda Priyanto, when asked to be a speaker at the Graduation Briefing of Undergraduate and Diploma Programs Period IV at Grha Sabha Pramana, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Tuesday (16/5) afternoon.
“Right now the requirements are so different, each individual must keep an open mind for anything, flexible, and also creative. Clear visions and dreams are a must-have in order to move forward, not only for ourselves, but also the environment, and the social circumstances around us,” he said in front of more than 1,600 prospective graduates in attendance.
This alumnus of Electrical Engineering UGM also assessed that every individual was born with their own advantages and disadvantages. For that, the synergy between different educational and social backgrounds becomes an important value that has to be done. In addition to enriching the each of the individual’s potential, interdisciplinary collaboration can also present solutions to various problems that occur around us.
“Now is the time to collaborate with each other. Moreover, UGM is one of the largest universities with a wide variety of studies and students who come from all corners of the archipelago,” he added.
The environmental activist and founder of Green Indonesia, Chandra Kirana Prijosusilo, was also presented in this briefing, to give insights to the prospective graduates. In her chance, the owner of the nickname Kiki emphasized the importance of rebuilding the value of trust among the people of Indonesia which is now very low. She also invited all parties, including UGM alumni, to get more of their attention on some urgent problems.
“The issue of nature conservation, endless cultural enrichment, and economic welfare should be the concern of all parties, not only the government but up to families, as well as to each individual. Especially seeing the increasingly high social gap,” said the alumna of Faculty of Psychology UGM. [Eggy]
