Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and International Affairs (DKAUI) through the Sub-Directorate of Alumni Relations of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a socialization of Tracer Study UGM program on Wednesday (25/5) morning. A total of more than 100 attendees represented all faculties and departments at UGM. The meeting that was held at Kamarijani-Soenjoto Auditorium, Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM also marked the kick off of UGM Tracer Study implementation for the year 2017.
As was told by Dr. Paripurna, Vice-rector for Cooperation and Alumni of UGM, Tracer Study is one of the university’s indicators to know the success of the learning process that has been implemented so far.
“(Tracer Study) becomes important, considering that every year we need to re-optimize the system and processes that take place at Universitas Gadjah Mada. Tracer Study becomes one of the evaluation materials on what needs to be improved,” he said when giving a speech.
Paripurna added, some indicators should be the attention of all parties including the leaders of university, faculty, to the department. Among them is a suitability benchmark of the study program taken by the alumni with the field of work that is cultivated after graduating from UGM. According to him, the greater the value of suitability, the better the learning process at UGM. On the other hand, if the suitability value is very small, then there should be an evaluation.
“Every time we want to know how successful a university is, the main benchmark is the graduates. Both general and specific aspects, such as the transition period to the career world, how much the income is and suitability with the study program. It should all be recorded, in order to know exactly how far our targets have been achieved,” added Plenary.
Dr. rer.pol Bina Patria, S.Psi., M.A., from Faculty of Psychology UGM also was presented to give an explanation and technical implementation of Tracer Study UGM program. According to his presentation, the number of respondents in 2016 did not increase compared to 2015. He also hoped this year can attract more respondents with the target of those UGM alumni graduated in 2015, both undergraduate and diploma programs.
“Last year we only managed to capture respondents by 35.9%, meaning there is a slight decrease from 2015. Therefore, we expect the cooperation of all parties to be able to increase the response rate in 2017,” said Bina. [Eggy]
