Ir. Wismana Adi Suryabrata, Deputy Minister of Facilities and Infrastructure, National Development Planning Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BAPPENAS RI), motivated UGM alumni to participate in the recruitment of BAPPENAS Civil Servants Candidates (CPNS) which was held again in 2017. He considered that Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) graduates have advantage and capability in the field of national planning. It can be proven from the number of UGM graduates that are currently working in BAPPENAS RI. Some of them even gained the trust to occupy strategic positions in formulating national planning and policy.
“UGM institutionally is considered quite capable (in the field of national planning). UGM also teaches its alumni about using a good perspective on a community problem. I think it is very suitable and is very much needed to contribute in institutions such as BAPPENAS,” he said in front of UGM alumni who became participants of the event “BAPPENAS Goes To Campus: Recruitment Socialization of BAPPENAS CPNS 2017 “, Saturday (16/9), in Room C Grha Sabha Pramana UGM.
Furthermore, Wismana explained, the advantage mentioned comes from the argumentation and thinking framework aspects of UGM graduates that are considered powerful in solving various cases and problems. In addition, as an institution based on democracy, UGM graduates are also taught to have a sense of empathy and high concern for wide community. “I am sure, the academic provision given by UGM will make UGM alumni able to compete with other university graduates,” added Wismana.
For the information, in this year of 2017, BAPPENAS RI opens opportunities for graduates from undergraduate (S1) and postgraduate (S2) programs to fill the 38 open formations in various required departments or study program. Recruitment participant who passes will have the status as CPNS for 2 years working period. If proven well, in the third year they can be inaugurated to be class IIIA civil servants (PNS).
Dr. Guspika, MBA., Head of Human Resources Bureau of BAPPENAS RI, provided an overview of the required human resource that BAPPENAS RI expects in this recruitment. According to him, integrity and the value of honesty are the basic values that must be owned by every individual, in addition to the intellectual excellence. Moreover, the government is currently echoing the spirit of bureaucratic reform and improvements in community service in every line.
In line with Wismana, Guspika also considered that UGM alumni will be able to compete with other universities in this year’s recruitment. “The last 10 years I see UGM alumni not only can compete, but can outperform other competitors,” he said while motivating the participants.
