Through the National Conference (Munas) that was held on Saturday (11/11), the Alumni Family of Electrical and Information Technology Engineering (KATETI) is now officially becoming an organization that embodies all alumni of Department of Electrical and Information Technology Engineering (DTETI) Universitas Gadjah Mada. The establishment of this organization can’t be separated from the role of cross-generation alumni who are aware of the importance of building a strong bond between fellow DTETI alumni as well as with their alma mater.
In the first National Conference, more than 100 DTETI UGM alumni from 1979 to 2012 came to participate. Some invited guests also come to the National Conference, among them are the Dean of Faculty of Engineering UGM, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Chairman of DTETI UGM, Sarjiya, S.T., M.T.; Chairman of Alumni Family of Engineering Universitas Gadjah Mada (KATGAMA), Ir. Agus Priyatno, and representative of KAGAMA Central Executive, La Ode M. Untung.
Through his speech, Prof. Nizam expects KATETI UGM to not only function as a forum for alumni of DTETI UGM to stay in touch, but also as an interaction space to collaborate with each other in order to support the development of the nation and state. In accordance with the theme carried in the National Conference that is “Menjalin Kebersamaan Membangun Negeri (Establishing Togetherness in Building the Country)”.
“In order to take on the demographic bonus of Indonesia in the future, it is necessary to prepare powerful human resources, of the ways to do that, one is by forming alumni ties as a means to build a positive collaboration,” he said in front of the National Conference participants that was held at Dafam Teraskita Hotel, Jakarta.
Agus Budi Tjahjono, S.T., M.M., an alumnus of the class of 1990 DTETI, was asked to be the Chairman of KATETI period 2017-2020. Agus was elected unanimously by the participants of the National Conference after becoming a single candidate in the chairman election session. In his vision, Agus will focus on strengthening the solidity of DTETI UGM alumni.
“His vision is to make an alumni bond that is solid, cohesive, blissful, and is able to provide great benefits for fellow alumni, alma mater, community, homeland, and nation,” said Agus. [Eggy]
