Universitas Gadjah Mada once again gave awards to its alumni who have great achievements, actions, and contribution to both the community and UGM. Alumni Awards 2017. Just like the previous year, these awards are given to five UGM alumni who have qualified in different categories. The awards were given directly by the rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M. Eng., D.Eng, to the elected alumni at Grha Sabha Pramana, Wednesday (13/12) night.
The award-winning alumni who received UGM Alumni Awards 2017 are; Stanislaus Tandelilin, S.E (Faculty of Economics and Business Alumnus) in the category of Alumni Muda Berprestasi (Excellent Young Alumni), Dr. H.M. Zayadi Hoesein, Sp.OG. (Faculty of Medicine Alumnus) in the category of Entrepreneurial Pioneer, and I Gusti Ngurah Putu Wijaya (Faculty of Law Alumnus) in the category of Culture Preservation Pioneer.
More alumni who won the awards are; Kulon Progo Regent, Dr. H. Hasto Wardoyo, Sp.OG (K) (Faculty of Medicine Alumnus), in the category of Empowerment of The Outermost, Frontline, and Disadvantaged Regions Pioneer, and Rector of AMIKOM University Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. M. Suyanto, M.M. (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Alumnus) in the category of Innovation, Design, and Creativity Pioneer.
On his time give a speech, Prof. Panut phrased that he is proud of the dedication of UGM alumni who never stop to give their best contribution to the development of the nation and state. The new Rector of UGM also hoped that the presence of this award will be able to motivate and inspire other UGM alumni to keep doing such things in their surrounding environment. Lastly, he also gave congratulations and the highest appreciation for the award-winning alumni this year.
“Hopefully this award can spark a new spirit to work harder and even greater for the glory of Indonesia,” said Prof. Panut in front of the invited guests of the event “Malam Penghargaan Bagi Insan Universitas Gadjah Mada Berprestasi 2017” (“Awarding Night for Excellent Figures of Universitas Gadjah Mada 2017”).
Regent of Kulon Progo Hasto Wardoyo expressed his gratitude to UGM while humbly acknowledging his achievement. According to Hasto, especially as a regent, the achievements scale given by the university through this award is actually far from public’s expectations. However, he still appreciated it and considered the reward received as an addition to his motivation to be better.
“We are very happy, especially for me, because the rector and Universitas Gadjah Mada has given us positive encouragement to contribute even more in order to meet the people’s expectations,” Hasto said. [Eggy/Farah]
