The career world today requires the presence of collaboration in every line to achieve the expected organizational goals. To that end, the ability to build relationships and to interact with many people become important provisions that must be prepared by graduates of Universitas Gadjah Mada before entering the career world.
As stated by Welfizon Yuza, Director of Service and Business Development of PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) when giving a lecture to prospective graduates of Bachelor and Diploma programs of February 2018 period at Grha Sabha Pramana, Tuesday (20/2).
“The company’s success is determined by the presence of a superteam in it, not just a superman. We can not excel on our own without the support of the others which complement each other,” he said.
According to Welfizon, the ability to build teamwork is actually easy to obtain by actively participating in various activities on and off campus. Said activity, according to him, also at once train leadership, integrity, and other values that can support one’s progress throughout the career world.
Young generation according to him also must be able to become the agent of change in creating a new atmosphere of the career world in accordance with the current era development. The mindset in the career world that seems rigid and obsolete should be abandoned and replaced with contemporary models.
Welfizon added that UGM graduates have their own advantages when compared with the other college graduates. However, Welfizon advised on keep improving personal competence after leaving the world of university.
“The learning process does not stop at graduation. The career world is even harder, preparing ourselves early on will make us more prepared to enter the real career world,” he said.
To enrich the insights of prospective graduates, the event also presented dr. Gideon Hartono, President Director of PT K24 Indonesia as a speaker with Welfizon.
The franchise owner with his pharmacy outlets spread all over Indonesia gave a lot of motivation to the prospective graduates to be brave to pursue a career as an entrepreneur. According to him, Indonesia is currently in urgent need of young entrepreneurs to support the nation’s economy.
Gideon also revealed several reasons why entrepreneurs can be one of the most eligible career choices. One of them because the profession can realize one’s dream without having to encounter obstacles in the process due to different views with superiors.
“Being a business owner, we can be more flexible in determining what we want. Moreover, if the orientation of success is material, becoming an entrepreneur can make us rich more quickly than pioneering a career in a company,” he said. [Eggy/Farah]
