Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and International Affairs (DKAUI) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held “Workshop on Tracer Study UGM 2018” at Hotel Grand Amabarrukmo, Jalan Solo, Yogyakarta, Friday (23/2).
The event was held on the preparation for the implementation of 2018 UGM Tracer Study program which is scheduled to begin in March to April. The main agenda is to evaluate and re-formulate the questionnaire which becomes the main instrument of the tracer study program.
According to Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, Director of KUI, the activity that invites representatives of faculty alumni service unit is important to support the success of the tracer study program. Danang sees that the discussion and input from various parties are needed in formulating questions that will be submitted to the alumni. Moreover, the current tracer study information is needed by the university as a condition of accreditation both at national and international levels.
“In the accreditation process, tracer study becomes the most important point in boosting the university’s reputation, so the questionnaire will be directed to accommodate those needs,” he said.
In addition to the accreditation necessity, tracer study according to Danang also is also needed to capture inputs from the alumni related to the education system at UGM. To that end, DKAUI will partner up with Innovation and Study Center (PIKA) UGM in processing the tracer study results as a foundation in formulating a university policy that supports the improvement of the academic services.
Alumni who graduated in 2016 became the target of this year’s respondents. Tracer Study UGM 2018 will also target all levels of study at UGM, such as Bachelor, Diploma, Postgraduate (S2 and S3), as well as professional programs.
Participation of respondents is still a university’s challenge in every tracer study. Although it has improved since it was first integrated on the university level in 2015, alumni participation in tracer study program is still low. “This year UGM tracer study will still utilize enumerator assistance in every faculty to increase alumni participation,” added Danang.
