Reunion will always be an anticipated event that alumni in anywhere, have been waiting for, because it could be time to reunite with fellow former student in a college. Keluarga Alumni Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA) DKI Jakarta conducted a big alumni reunion titled “Guyub Rukun, Kini dan Nanti” at Cendrawasih Hall, Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta on Saturday (22/9).
The enthusiasm of the alumni was shown when they were attending and did online registration. Thousands of alumni from different batches, from across Indonesia, were packed inside the Cendrawasih Hall. The crowded situation changed into solemn when the national anthem Indonesia Raya and Himne Gadjah Mada were sang by alumni during the opening ceremony.
The chairman of event, Prof. Dr. Otto Hasibuan, S.H., M.M., stated about the reunion theme “Guyub Rukun, Kini dan Nanti” which means that all the alumni should unite and keep in touch. He hoped that many UGM alumni which have taken part in various sector could share their stories and experiences, and also strengthen the bond among fellow alumni to make a greater nation together.
Chairman of PP KAGAMA, Ganjar Pranowo, S.H., M.IP. and Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng,were also attend the event. During the speech, Ganjar Pranowo stated that KAGAMA is united as one, it is shown from various alumni from all across Indonesia, from different batches and faculties. Moreover, also attending the event, Minister of State Secretary, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Education and Culture, and Chief Justice of Constitutional Court of Indonesia.
The special thing during this big reunion is President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo also attending the event. He shared his nostalgic experiences when he was a student back in college, such as debt habit among the students to eat at SGPC restaurant. President Jokowi admitted that it was an usual habit among the students. “Debt at the SGPC must be paid” said the alumnus of UGM Forestry Faculty which graduated in 1985.
Some guest stars were performed to tone up the event, such as Nusantara Dance, UGM Choir, PADI Reborn, Elek Yo Band, Romy Rafael, Dagelan Matraman, hosted by Donna Agnesia and Irgy Fahrezi as MC. There were also many doorprizes to give the event more positive and happy vibes. At the end of the event, the alumni were queued to take a picture on a photo backdrop within Alumni UGM slogan written on it, “Alumni UGM : Stay In Touch, Be Well Connected” as the ‘confirmation’ to be UGM Alumni [Irzha]
