Senior year students often join an internship program along with expectation that they are fully prepared to work after graduate. It is undeniable that internship does give many benefits for the students. Moreover that nowadays, information about internship program has well-managed and coordinated by the Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives and Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. as an iron and steel making manufacturing company for 43 years has opened Certified Student Internship Program (PMMB) initiated by Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) by selecting some top universities in Indonesia to join this program. The selection which the internship candidates must go through is very tight and competitive, similar to job recruitment, since the benefit of this PMMB program is a direct employment after the internship.
PMMB selection took place in Faculty of Engineering Centre Office (KPFT) for 2 days, from November 5th – November 6th and attended by 49 candidates from Mechanical Engineering Studies, Electrical Engineering Studies, Electronics and Instrumentation (ELINS), Chemical Engineering Studies, and Psychology Studies. At the first day of the test, the candidates took psycho test, TOEFL Test, and job test according to their studies and the next day, the candidates did interview and medical examination.
From 49 candidates, Krakatau Steel will pick 12 candidates to join the internship program for 6 months, starts from January 2019. “We expect to get the most potential UGM students which capable to do this program very well so then they can be recruited to become Krakatau Steel’s employee.” said Cerry Amanda Nur as Human Capital Development and Learning Centre (HCD&LC) of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk, at KPFT, Monday (5/11).
