Yogyakarta – Universitas Gadjah Mada, which has known as ‘Kampus Kerakyatan’ because of its relationship to all class of people is rightly maintained, not only by academic community of UGM, but also by its alumni. One of the things that alumni can do is to sharpen empathy towards humanity. During the Graduation Debriefing of Bachelor and Diploma Degree Periode November of Academic Year 2018/2019, Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations UGM presented a theme about the orientation of UGM alumni, which not only career oriented but also share-with-others oriented.
“UGM Alumni must able to harmonize career orientation with social sensitivity.” said Mr. Sandya Yudha, alumnus of Faculty of Law as guest speaker while explaining about KAGAMACare to the graduates in Grha Sabha Pramana, Wednesday (21/11).
Along with his statement, Mr. Sulastama Rahardja, S.T., M.T., the alumnus of Geological Engineering UGM who recently become Lead Earth Scientist, Well Development HO, Asset Development of PT. Chevron Pasific Indonesia, also delivered that “people who can be graduated from UGM are the selected and gracious people, therefore, after graduate, UGM students are expected to give little bit of action to Indonesia, not only for personal interest. UGM students must have empathy towards others,”
“In voluntary world, we can do many aspects. In KAGAMACare, form of participation is not only physical like departing to the affected disaster location, but also donation, thoughts, or just spread information such as ‘UGM Alumni is contributing in disaster recovery in Palu’ through social media. Information spreading itself is already a form of participation.” explained Mr. Sandya Yudha in University Club, UGM, Wednesday (21/11).
“UGM alumni have already proven to manage many sectors, from social governance, private, and business. In the future, we expect UGM alumni to contribute for the nation and humanity in their own sectors” said Mr. Sulastama Rahardja.
As the closing of the talkshow, Mrs. Dr. Ayu Helena Cornellia, B.A., M.Si. as moderator of the talkshow, added that she could achieved doctoral degree because networking and focused on the goals. The alumna of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences is succeed on developing her enterprise, Cornellia & Co. which the pioneer of public relation consultant in Yogyakarta.
