Yogyakarta – Subdirectorate of Alumni Relation Universitas Gadjah Mada had benchmark visit from Directorate of Career Development Center and Alumni Management Telkom University on Thursday (21/2). The attendance from Telkom University representatives was welcomed by Head Chief of Subdirectorate of Alumni Relation UGM in Court Room 1, UGM Main Building.
Benchmark visit agenda was opened by speech and introduction from each institution’s members. Mrs. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt. as Secretary of Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives UGM was embracing this benchmark visit.
“UGM as National University, Revolutionary University, Pancasila University, The People’s University, and Cultural University, will always support any kind of efforts in higher education improvements in Indonesia. One of the efforts is this benchmark visit,” she said.
The event continued to discussion session and presentation about Subdirectorate of Alumni Relation UGM programs.
Telkom University, which is located in Bandung, West Java, had chosen UGM because it has good alumni management. UGM has KAGAMA (Keluarga Alumni Gadjah Mada) organization which spreads around Indonesia and the globe.
Benchmark visit was attended by 5 guests from Telkom University and 8 people from Subdirectorate of Alumni Relation and it was lasted for one day.
Specifically, Director of Career Center Development and Alumni Management Telkom University asked about how Subdirectorate of Alumni Relation UGM could persuade senior students and alumni to come to career counseling service. Moreover, Telkom University also asked for tips on how to attract students to attend seminar or career guide training.
“When we conduct a seminar, we always pick theme or topic that currently trending among the students and also needed for them, and then guest speaker we invite also a senior psychologist who works in HRD in huge companies. This will attract students’ interest because they know what kind of employee that company needs. Mostly, we do company presentation and also campus hiring. For career counseling service, we collaborate with Faculty of Psychology to provide room facility for it,” explained Dr. Sulistyowati, S.S., M.Hum., Head Chief of Subdirectorate of Alumni Relation UGM.
Director of Career Center Development and Alumni Management Telkom University said that they already have much inspiration from this benchmark visit.
Dr. Sulistyowati expected that the well-maintained relationship between both universities will affected to the performance from alumni service management in UGM and also in Telkom University.
