Dr. Agung Wahyu Susilo S.P. M.P is the winner of UGM Alumni Awards 2018 in Innovation, Creativity and Science category who is also an alumnus from master’s degree at Faculty of Agriculture UGM. Agung was born on December 6th, 1971 in Kulon Progo. Agung now serves as Director of the Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Center (PUSLITKOKA). Before being appointed as director of the PUSLITKOKA, Agung was active as a researcher in the cocoa breeding field since he graduated from college. During being a researcher, Agung always innovated in developing Indonesian plantations. Based on these studies, Agung succeeded in developing cocoa plants with superior varieties. The results from those research and innovation then used as a reference for superior cocoa seedlings and able to assist cocoa farmers in improving cocoa quality. Due to this hard work and innovation, Agung succeeded in becoming a Researcher with Achievement in the Development of Plantation Innovations by Minister of Agriculture Republic Indonesia in 2015 and was awarded by the 2017 MPPI Award as Plant Breeders category in 2017.
