Medria Kusuma Dewi is one of women who works in oil industry, which known as ‘men’ job. She was born in Madiun and got into UGM through Pemilihan Bibit Unggul Daerah (PBUD) undergraduate program in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences specifically in Mathematics Department in 1979. After she graduated from UGM, she once taught middle school students in a course and then she took post graduate program in Faculty of Engineering in Oil Engineering Department, ITB. After she finished her post graduate program, she moved from other company to another company. She also worked in a China oil company in Jakarta. Currently, she works in one of international oil company in Kuala Lumpur named Hess Corporation and decided to live in there until now.
Her dedication in oil industry makes her achieve Outstanding Reserves Audit 2011 and Outstanding Awards Reserves Cycle 2012 from Global Hess Houston Texas for Pailin Gas Field Gulf of Thailand for 2 years in a row. Besides oil industry, Medria also has her concern and care for her surrounding environment. She has committed to build leadership character of Indonesian students in Sabah. She collaborated with school principals and teachers to improve the skills of Indonesia International School students in Kuala Lumpur, the skills of worker students in Sabah fields, and give young graduate engineer mentoring of Asia Pacific and because or her active role, Medria obtained Mentor Award for Junior Engineer Graduate Foundation: Coach, Mentor, Develop (Asia Pacific). In 2015, UGM gave her Alumni Awards as the pioneer of empowerment in disadvantageous, foremost, and outermost area.
