KAGAMA achievement for Indonesia and the world keep making the country proud like the exceptional KAGAMA China. UGM alumni in China are motivated to keep sharing with fellow members and people in China. KAGAMA China uses WeChat platform to keep communicating because WeChat is a chat application with the most users in China.
Two members of KAGAMA China met in Tourism Trade Fair, Beijing, China, 16 May 2019 (Doc: Hendy)
There are 70 members of KAGAMA in WeChat group consisted of 24 Indonesians and 46 Chinese. Most of KAGAMA members are Chinese who currently work as workers. Meanwhile, KAGAMA China members who come from Indonesia and they currently live as students. KAGAMA China members works in various fieldworks such as media, education, trading, and art and they are live in many cities and provinces in China such as Beijing, Chengdu, Henan, Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi.
Hence, it is difficult for KAGAMA China to conduct a gathering event in massive number of people. It is normal because China is a big country and each of the members has their own activity. Some KAGAMA members could only gather while they are visiting the city where other members are live in. They meet in some events like seminar or conference, culture festival in many universities, trading fair, campus visit, and so on.
Even KAGAMA China has limitation to conduct an event together, but communication among them is well-maintained. KAGAMA WeChat group intensively shares much useful information such as job vacancy, part-time vacancy, internship, PPI webinar, seminar or symposium, scholarship, charity, culture festival, and other information. Job vacancy is the most shared information in the group, especially part-time vacancy which needed by students.
Some shared vacancy was related to translator, guide, film dubber, and other job related to language, and some position as employee in a company. KAGAMA China members gain the fast access to the vacancy. Most of the vacancy in China requires Mandarin language skill. This requirement is not that difficult because KAGAMA members are able to speak Mandarin well.
KAGAMA China also gives information about various academic activities such as seminar, webinar, and symposium. This info will be useful for students and lecturers from many universities in China because a lot of KAGAMA China members work as lecturers. Some universities where they teach are Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Guanxi Foreign Studies University, Guangdong Foreign Studies University, and Beijing Foreign Studies University.
