Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) always try to develop its quality to be able to have qualified graduates. Many events held as platform for UGM civic academy so they could have transferable knowledge and information for UGM development. One of the events is Discussion and Talk: “Triple Helix Synergy in Qualified Human Resources Supply” which initiated by Vice Rector of Partnerships and Alumni, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
This event was held on Wednesday (10/7) at 1st floor of Grha Sabha Pramana Auditorium UGM. There were at least 50 guests from users and UGM alumni who involved in AUN. There was also Secretary of Rector, Drs. Gugup Kismono, M.B.A., Ph.D., and he gave opening speech to start the discussion.
Gugup said that UGM must improve the competitiveness of the university, on national level and international level. To become one of the 200 best universities in the world is quite progressive achievement for UGM since 2015. Gugup also said that UGM will always improve its quality so it can be one of the 100 best universities in the world.
“However, there is something else important such as qualified human resources provision. The key of our contribution to this nation development and global competitiveness is through qualified human resources,” he said.
The next speech was delivered by Head of Quality Assurance Office Universitas Gadjah Mada (KJM UGM), Prof. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, M.B.A., Ph.D. Indra said that KJM will always maintain the quality of major department, faculty, study centre, and other program in UGM.
“Learning process in UGM is already good enough. This could be seen from 267 major departments in UGM, 85% of them already accredited A by BAN-PT (National Accreditation Board-High Institution) and the most accredited departments in Indonesia, “ he said to the guests.
The benefit of this accreditation is not only as an international acknowledgement, but also to open partnership opportunity from major department to international partners and accessibility of the alumni to upgrade their career.
After description about UGM quality as in system and performance, the next agenda was opening speech from Director of Partnerships, Alumni, and Global Initiatives Universitas Gadjah Mada (DKAUI UGM), Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc.
“The role of alumni user has huge impact for the quality of UGM graduates. Throughout this discussion, we can give feedback to each other for human resources quality improvement of UGM graduates,” Danang said.
Danang also said that UGM facilitates user or partners to be able to directly request alumni with certain specification to shorten recruitment process. UGM also tries to provide graduates who can contribute to nation’s development and qualified for national and international career development. It is task for all UGM academics to be able to always give feedback to the university about understanding of what industrial resources needs.
