A friendly and energetic image emanates from Dr. J. Satrijo Tanudjojo as a speaker at the Provision of Candidate Graduation for Bachelor and Diploma Program November 2019 Period, on Tuesday (19/11) at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM.
Graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UGM in 1983, Satrijo has now served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Global Tanoto Foundation after previously having worked in 10 different countries. Satrijo was very concerned about the development of education in Indonesia so he joined Tanoto to facilitate several programs related to education.
The success achieved by Satrijo was certainly not easily obtained but with sincerity and integrity. Satrijo also said that integrity is something that everyone has and integrity is not something that needs to be discussed again.
“Integrity is in everyone. All we can choose is where we want to go, with whom we are friends. Making friends with an environment that can build us, naturally will form an integrated community,” he said in front of 1,900 prospective graduates.
Nowadays, there are a lot of developments in technology 4.0 which also has an impact on the social community. Satrijo said that technology is divided into two, namely factual technology and mindset technology. Technology, in fact, can be seen from the many substitutes for human labour in the form of machines. Meanwhile, mindset technology in question is that humans must be able to go up and see the situation.
“Our knowledge depreciates. Now our knowledge depreciation is only 3 to 5 years. Therefore, we must continue to learn, “he said.
Satrijo also added that alumni must be able to take care of themselves so that they are always relevant to the times. In addition, Satrijo said, according to a World Economic Forum survey, in the next 5 to 10 years, 75 million jobs would be lost. Therefore, science plays an important role in creating or providing solutions to these lost jobs.
Careers from different fields in different places will certainly have a myriad of new challenges that must be faced every day. Satrijo conveyed in front of the prospective graduates not to sink into the situation.
“When working, hold 3H or if in Indonesian it’s 3K. Head, heart, and habit. Skill is needed to keep learning and innovating. The concern is caring about the environment, because if we don’t care, who else will care. Last is the habit. Cultivate good habits so that they can also lead to good things,” said Satrijo.
