“We must be pioneers and conquerors,” said Bambang Eka Cahyana at the Provision of Graduate Candidates for the January 2020 Period, Monday (01/21) at Grha Sabha Pramana. This energetic and friendly figure has been working for 25 years in a state-owned company until finally he currently serves as President Director of PT Pupuk Kujang.
Bambang said that prospective graduates are individuals who are ready to contribute. Taking the topic “Becoming a Winner”, Bambang explained of how current changes are becoming more radical, UGM alumni must be able to contribute quickly.
This alumnus from the Faculty of Forestry UGM revealed that strategic leadership is the main thing that everyone needs to be a pioneer.
“The figure of leadership must have 3 main aspects. Knowledge, personality and spiritual aspects. A leader must always continue to learn new knowledge, have a good personality, and can also protect his subordinates,” he said.
From his experience, said Bambang, in working we must uphold honesty, be open-minded, respect the time, provide the best results, and act more as a character that can shape a person’s personality to become a leader. A leader always holds morally and integrity so that he can make himself an example for others.
Bambang also said in front of hundreds prospective graduates that whose interested in taking a Bachelor (S1) in Law even though they now holds a doctorate from the business administration department. For him, his desire to take S1 is not merely to seek a degree, but really want to know the essence of the knowledge. This departs from the experience of Bambang who had been involved in a long time in a government company that could not be separated from its association with legal issues, especially in securing and managing state assets.
After describing the figure of a leader, Bambang also appealed to prospective graduates that they must always be ready to compete in being a winner.
“We do not compete in the context of defeating opponents, but we compete to defeat ourselves and appear to be the best by making changes,” said this man whose born in Bantul.
Bambang said, the winners are those who beat themselves and appear to be the best by making changes. In addition, the leader or the winner not only provides profit for the company or organization, but can also contribute in developing others.
“The biggest legacy for a winner is to develop people. Someone’s legacy on how he develops the people around him,” said the figure who began his career as a staff of the Forest Management Division of PT Trisida Pantau. In front of more than 900 prospective graduates, Bambang gave a lecture that UGM alumni should be able to develop their own potential and also those around to jointly become the ram for change.
“The winners are those who contribute to profit people and the world. Let’s become a battering ram for organizations, institutions, and appear as the best,”he said ending the session.
