Carrying a big theme titled “Prepare Your Future, Achieve Your Career!”, UGM Integrated Career Days 2020 (UGM ICD 2020) was officially opened on Wednesday (4/3) at the 2nd Floor of Grha Sabha Pramana Universitas Gadjah Mada. The event was inaugurated directly by the Vice-Chancellor for Partnerships and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M. by pressing the button on the iPad to symbolize the start of the event.
Paripurna hopes that through the UGM ICD 2020 can bridge university graduates, especially UGM graduates, to find suitable work fields and of course to develop their potential.
“Through this UGM ICD activity it is hoped that it can shorten the waiting period of alumni in finding work,” he said.
The event began with an opening dance entertainment by the UGM Bali Dance Unit performing the Cenderawasih Dance. After the opening dance, the event was filled with interactive quizzes and greetings for company partners who joined the UGM ICD 2020. More than 40 companies also enlivened this activity as well as opening recruitment.
The enthusiasm of visitors from universities in Yogyakarta and Central Java had been seen since registration opened at 08.30 WIB. More than 2000 visitors came on the first day of the UGM ICD 2020 series. Sponsored by PT Harmoni Panca Utama, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia, and PT LPPNPI (AirNav Indonesia), this activity also opened many job vacancies to the walk-in-interview stage.
Not only exhibitions of various companies, but UGM ICD 2020 also held a Talk Show with the title “Find Passion, Take Action” presenting CEO of Gifood, Fathin Naufal and Binar Academy’s Cognitive Researcher, Seto Lareno as the moderated speaker by Sekar Sari.
This talk show raised a theme related to startups that are now rife. Startup companies, most of which are companies that depart from unrest and take advantage of opportunities, often cannot survive given that this company moves according to the creativity and innovation of the people who work in it. In addition, the recruitment of these companies is no longer based solely on academic values but also on cognitive abilities and expertise in other fields.
Both Fathin and Seto revealed that in the age of technology, young people, in particular, must be able to make good use of it and collaborate with passion in order to produce something useful for the surrounding. Perseverance and curiosity are things that must be honed because in this changeable period everything will easily sink with many new innovations.
In addition to the talk show held on the main stage of the 2nd Floor of GSP UGM, UGM ICD 2020 also presented a workshop titled “Be Creative, Get Your Own CV!” and “Personal Branding to Unleash Your Potential” on the 1st Floor of GSP UGM. This activity provides training on how to make a good CV and also how to maximize the existing potential and later be used as a self-label to register for work.
In addition to talk shows and workshops, there are many other interesting activities that can be found at this annual event such as interactive quizzes, company presentations, and entertainment.
