COVID-19 or better known as Coronavirus has spread to more than 88 countries in the world and is currently becoming a global concern including KAGAMA. Therefore, KAGAMA Virtual initiated the KAGAMA Sharing event entitled “Knowing SARS Cov-2 and Steps to Anticipate It”. Sulastama Raharja, S.T., M.T., Coordinator of KAGAMA Virtual, said that this activity was the result of a discussion by the Chairperson of PP KAGAMA, Ganjar Pranowo along with Pengda and the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo some time ago.
“Mr. Ganjar conveyed how we should give a positive impression, so we do not panic and listen to hoaxes,” he said.
Tama, as he is called, also said that Ganjar and President Jokowi agreed to respond positively to this issue.
“UGM itself has already made a series to know COVID better, such at school, home, and so on, which is quite reliable from its sources, namely the Ministry of Health and WHO,” concluded Tomo at the activity held in the Merpati Room, Saturday (7/3).
In collaboration with the Regional Office of KAGAMA DIY and the Directorate of Partnerships, Alumni, and International Affairs (DKAUI), the activities that were packaged in the form of casual discussions presented dr. Riris Andono Ahmad, MPH, PhD. as a speaker. A figure who is familiarly called Dr. Doni is the Director of the UGM Tropical Health Center and he is also active in the fields of science and technology, studies and advocacy of KAGAMA.
Tama said that this event was valuable if analyzed from a scientific point of view because it could directly invite experts who struggled directly with issues that exploded.
dr. Doni started the discussion by explaining the difference between plagues, outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics. He pointed out the spread of dangerous diseases in the world ranging from Spanish Flu, SARS, to MERS which has claimed many lives.
“Many have likened SARS Cov-2 to COVID-19. In fact, SARS Cov-2 is the cause of COVID-19,” he said, clarifying the difference between the two viruses.
dr. Doni said that the most important thing to avoid COVID-19 is to maintain hygiene and intake that can strengthen the immune system. Panic should not occur if there is in-depth education related to Coronavirus.
This relaxed discussion is expected to appeal to the wider community about preventing the spread of COVID-19 and overcoming panic.
