Kampus Merdeka (Independent Learning) is a program that aims to accelerate innovation through education by conducting learning activities, one of which is an internship/work practice program in the industry. Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is collaborating with PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB) to succeed the Kampus Merdeka program. The MoU was signed on Tuesday (18/8), making PT PJB the first BUMN subsidiary to directly contribute to the Kampus Merdeka. UGM and PT PJB will work together in its implementation, starting from curriculum design to program completion.
Through this collaboration, final year students will have the opportunity to take credits off-campus or outside the study program. For example, they could intern or take practical work in PJB units. The internship program lasts for 6 months and is equivalent to 20 credits. This program will be implemented in September 2020. Furthermore, PT PJB (supported by PJB Academy) provides mentors, internship tools such as projects or case studies that students can later complete during the internship program.
PT PJB has also prepared well for this program by mapping 53 mentors and 87 co-mentors from operations, maintenance, LK3 to asset management. Then for the work practice area includes the Head Office, Generating Unit, and Maintenance Unit. To support the program, PT PJB has also prepared 71 projects/case studies for interns. At the end of the internship program, students in the engineering field will be allowed to take a competency certification test.
As we have heard, PT PJB has succeeded with its programs such as the Community Academy, PJB Class, to the Certified Internship Student Program from PT PLN. Therefore, PT PJB now has the ambition to become the leading power generation company in Southeast Asia and has the desire to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia through its educational programs. Moreover, currently, it is boosted by Kampus Merdeka program.
Vice-rector for Cooperation and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M. Hum., LL. M. appreciate the fast response of PT PJB to directly implement the program. The President Director of PT PJB, Iwan Agung Firstantara, said that PT PJB will continue to support government programs. One of which is by being involved in Kampus Merdeka and fully supervising the course to ensure that it is following the vision and values of this program. Iwan also said that power generation companies, especially PT PJB, cannot be detached from the role and support of academics.
The collaboration between UGM and PT PJB as a state-owned company related to HR development is expected to continue to produce excellent human resources that are ready to contribute to the development of Indonesia. [Winona]
