The UGM Virtual Career Fair 2020 officially ended on Thursday (17/9) through a live broadcast on the UGM Alumni YouTube channel. Six corporate partners and one institution attended the event. The webinar and sharing sessions began with representatives from PT Bukit Vista, a company engaged in the hospitality sector. Delivered directly by the CEO of Bukit Vista, Jing Cho Yang, the company introduced the profile of and work environment at Bukit Vista. In addition, there was also a sharing session from one UGM alumni currently working at Bukit Vista as a programmer.
After the presentation from Bukit Vista, the Yogyakarta Administrative Region Office of Manpower and Transmigration explained the challenges and job opportunities in the millennial era and their space in the ‘new normal’ adaptation period. Many graduates from various universities and high schools find it challenging to secure employment, especially during the pandemic. Therefore, The DIY Manpower and Transmigration Office provides an overview and strategies applied to workers in Yogyakarta, from before and during the pandemic, to the ‘new normal’ adaptation period.
The event was then continued by PT Arutala Digital Innovation. The company develops AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality)-based technologies. As a company engaged in the technology sector, opportunities are wide-open for applicants who want to innovate and contribute to technological development. Following PT Arutala Digital Innovation was PT Jatis Mobile, the largest mobile application and mobile marketing service provider in Indonesia. Like the previous company, Jatis Mobile is also looking for talents who dare to innovate, be creative, and actively work for technological advancement.
The presentation was continued after a lunch break by a well-known online-based company, PT Grab Indonesia. As a company that received the title of “decacorn” and a company that provides online transportation services, PT Grab Indonesia also offers opportunities for graduates and final students who have an interest in information technology. Through the presentation, employee requirements and selection stages, as well as internship positions, were also laid out for participants interested in joining PT Grab Indonesia. The next presenter, PT Indivara Group, is also an online technology-based company. The company is one of the largest technology investment holdings in ASEAN that focuses on software development consulting. PT Indivara Group presented the company profile and career opportunities available in the company.
The last presentation was delivered by PT Merdeka Copper Gold, a holding company with subsidiaries operating in the mining business, including exploration, production of gold, silver, copper, minerals, and other mining services. The company currently opens the first batch of recruitment and prioritizes graduates from engineering majors.
Through various information provided by six companies and one government institution, UGM wished that participants could take full advantage of opportunities to find work and equip themselves with information that representatives from each company have shared. Through the comment sections, participants also actively sent questions related to job opportunities.
UGM Virtual Career Fair 2020 was expected to become a forum for corporate partners, institutions, and the government to attract many outstanding individuals to contribute to national development.
