UGM successfully hosted the second day of UGM Virtual Career Fair 2020 on Wednesday (22/10). Six corporate partners—Bank Indonesia, PT Arutala Digital Inovasi, PT Niagahoster, Detikcom, Widya Indonesia Group, and Rosebrand—spoke on the webinar and sharing session.
The event was kickstarted with the presentation from Bank Indonesia, “Synergy to Develop, Indonesia Onward”. In addition to describing the role of Bank Indonesia in developing the country’s economy, it also explained its involvement in Kampus Merdeka programs, which provide internship opportunities for final year students at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The event was continued by Niagahoster, a web hosting service provider. On this occasion, Niagahoster spoke on the market need for digital skills, which is currently rife in the era of industrial revolution 4.0. In addition, the ability to hone hard skills and enrich soft skills is also a must-have for current job seekers.
The following company was PT Arutala Digital Innovation, an Indonesian-based startup company operating in technological advancements, such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). PT Arutala also provides internship and recruitment opportunities for students and graduates who want to enter the software development world.
Detik Network then continued the sharing session. Operating in the information media sector, the company promoted career opportunities in mass media, particularly during the pandemic. Media-related professions are not only limited to journalists; there are also market analysis positions that assess how information should be processed according to needs to be well-received by the community. Furthermore, even though this era demands digitalization in most sectors, a career in media is still promising because human resources are still needed to cover news and events directly on the field.
The event was then closed by Rosebrand, a subsidiary of Sungai Budi Group. As a company that produces various foods and beverage products, it opens various job vacancies for graduates and final year students. Almost every major is allowed to register and participate in the selection process.
The second day of UGM VCF 2020 provided numerous information related to internships and job vacancies. This was undoubtedly helpful for job seekers, considering the limited physical movement caused by the pandemic.
