Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with KAGAMA held an Alumni Night 2020, one of the 71st Dies Natalis UGM agenda, on Saturday (5/12). This event was held at the UGM Hall and broadcast online through the Zoom Meeting Room and Youtube. Attending and welcoming this event were the Rector, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng. and H. Ganjar Pranowo, S.H., M.IP., Chairman of PP KAGAMA and the Governor of Central Java.
Prof. Panut, in his welcoming speech, said that UGM highly appreciated KAGAMA for their contribution and assistance to the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides, he also viewed UGM alumni as having a strong concern for education in the Sahabat UGM program.
“Through this event, we hope that alumni can keep in touch with alma mater mentally and always bring UGM values ββfor the country’s development,” said Prof. Panut.
On the same occasion, Ganjar Pranowo delivered the importance of the cooperation of the alumni. Ganjar said that currently, we were being tested. Therefore, harmony was highly needed to pass the test.
“We could contribute in many ways. Now, we require a solution for the problem, especially during the pandemic. I believe UGM will be able to contribute, and KAGAMA can synergize, “said the Chairman of PP KAGAMA.
The event was followed up with a symbolic scholarship awarding ceremony for the KAGAMA Batch X scholarship and Sahabat UGM scholarship awardee. The awarding was handed online in the form of a mock-up by the chairman of PP KAGAMA and Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Alumni Affairs.
This event was also held to commemorate two great Indonesian cultural figures, namely Ki Seno Nugroho and Didi Kempot, who have passed away. Their loyal fans will certainly remember the maestro’s masterpiece. Many of their impressions and stories were delivered by their colleagues in the video.
The Alumni Night events also presented an interactive dialogue between alumni and the Rector. Acting as the moderator was Prof. Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M. This interactive dialogue aimed to facilitate alumni to express their aspirations and experiences for UGM improvement.
This event was enlivened by the Gadjah Mada Chamber Orchestra (GMCO) and Guyonwaton, the rising band from Yogyakarta. Besides, there were welcoming dance by KAGAMA Beksan, Kikis Tunggarana (puppet show) by Tahta Harimurti Proboatmojo, and a show by the Gadjah Mada Adiswara Choir in collaboration with Deaf Friends.
The synergy between UGM and KAGAMA at the 2020 Alumni Night event was a moment for KAGAMA reunion and an appreciation for UGM for its contributions to alumni. Through this event, UGM also awarded two Javanese cultural figures who had passed away, leaving eternal masterpieces in Indonesia.
