Universitas Gadjah Mada and KAGAMA embodied the spirit of being a pillar of educational awakening in Indonesia, and a defender and disseminator of Pancasila. in the Virtual Nitilaku in a year of Angel Number. This event is held on Sunday (13/12) through the zoom meeting room and live streaming on KAGAMA and UGM youtube channel. This event is one of the 71th Dies Natalis UGM agenda, commemorated on 19 December.
This annual event has been held since 2012 as a UGM journey symbol. Similar to the previous years, the participant walked from the Keraton to Bulaksumur. However, this year is slightly different as it is done online due to the pandemic situation.
Vice Rector for Cooperation and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., said that the Keraton and UGM are inseparable relationships. This event was conducted to reflect the society do, both the intellectual one and the public one. It shows that UGM was a federal university and to prove Indonesian’s existence in the world.
In his welcoming speech, the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta said that UGM always commemorated its Dies Natalis by considering its founding history. Then it is followed by Napak Laukpara, the founding of UGM foundation, and the most important is noto laku for nanting laku for the future. It is significant to shape the Spirit of UGM to be pandam-pandoming laku to establish itself as the pillar of educational awakening in Indonesia, and the defender and disseminator of Pancasila. He also hoped that UGM would become the actor of change towards a locally rooted, globally respected university.
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Dr. (H.C) Ir. Airlangga Hartarto, M.B.A., M.M.T., on behalf of the President, Ir. Joko Widodo, said that he appreciated this event.
“Hopefully, UGM can become an educational institution which always ground on core values, but respected globally,” he hoped.
This year, the Nitilaku embraced the synergy of University, Keraton, Village, Community, and Corporation. It is very relevant to the current era since there are villages, communities, and corporations from Keraton to Bulaksumur, as the moving gear for economy and life. Moreover, many alumni are involved.
UGM is continually developing, and it becomes the pioneer for education, scientific development, public health, and community service.
KAGAMA has never encountered a dead end until the virtual Nitilaku was successfully held, as stated by Ganjar Pranowo, the chairman of PPKAGAMA and the Governor of Central Java.
It is expected that alumni can reach broader aspects for the improvement and economic rise of the State.
This virtual Nitilaku also presented the show from KAGAMA from Indonesia and abroad. The spirit of UGM should be lit up even during the pandemic. It is one piece of evidence that UGM alumni are locally rooted, globally respected.
