The 2021 UGM Tracer Study’s dissemination was held again on Thursday (11/02) through Zoom Meeting Room. Approximately 235 participants attended this event. They were deans, vice deans, heads of study programs, heads of departments, and faculty/school quality assurance unit representatives.
As previously stated, this tracer study aims to see the ongoing university curriculum implementation improvements. It is seen from the alumni’s progress after graduating and being employed.
Prof. Dr. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., UGM Vice Rector for Cooperation and Alumni, said that through a Tracer Study, both faculties and study programs can improve or develop curricula based on the needs of the job market.
“Job market is always changing; therefore, tracing is needed to determine market needs,” he explained.
In this event, UGM launched UGM 2021 tracer study. The survey will be carried out until April 2021. The synergy between study programs, faculty, and university level is highly needed to increase the alumni response rate.
During his presentation on the tracer study implementation, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc. explained that study program is the frontline and takes a significant role as they have to follow up their alumni.
After the presentation, a QnA session was carried out related to the impact of this tracer study. This tracer study’s success is indicated by obtaining data related to alumni’s employment, entrepreneurship, and further studies.
The expected feedback is related to curriculum development such as a practicum or the use of technology tools common to the industrial world. This can be obtained from the graduates’ outcome, such as the needs in their workplace which later can be prepared in campus, and so on.
Each faculty and study program parameter will also be determined according to the relevant fields. It is hoped that the 2021 tracer study can be carried out smoothly and achieved a high response rate for developing the educational curriculum at UGM.
