The Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives through the Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations kickstarted the UGM Virtual Career Fair 2021 on Monday (29/3) via Zoom and YouTube live-streaming. This virtual job fair will be held for four days and will be attended by twenty-six corporate partners and three scholarship-awarding institutions.
The Secretary of Directorate of Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives, Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc. Apt., remarked in her opening speech that UGM VCF 2021 was intended as a medium for partners to connect with university graduates—especially from UGM. Aside from being a forum for alumni or final year students to look for employment opportunities, UGM VCF was also expected to bring other benefits to participants, such as helping discover their passion to providing an understanding of industrial market needs so that they could be more prepared to enter the world of professionals.
The first day commenced with a webinar from the Yogyakarta Administrative Region Office of Manpower and Transmigration, which focused on internships know-hows. There are many benefits from internship programs, such as bridging the gap between educational institutions and the work market. In addition, it could also help companies discover workers through apprenticeships. A myriad of opportunities was available for internships—even abroad. The advantages obtained were also immense. In addition to experience, there were training prospects, pocket money, and the possibility of recruitment from the company.
The next in line for the event was MAS Silueta, a multinational company operating in fashion manufacture. This certified company has up to 2,000,000 production capacity per month. In addition, the company also has a ‘zero waste lifestyle’ and environmental protection programs. The company recruitment is open to graduates from every major. Still, in some divisions, especially the technical department, they will prioritize graduates from specific majors such as engineering.
The following company, PT Santos Jaya Abadi, is one of the largest coffee roasting companies in Southeast Asia. In their webinar, the company laid out some of their company programs, one of which is how the company pays attention to social and environmental issues by holding various activities that involve both employees and the surrounding community. PT Arutala Digital Innovation continued the webinar by describing the great significance of developing technology in today’s era. In addition to keeping up with technological advances, the company also collaborates with millennial generations to grow together and develop impactful breakthroughs that benefit the wider community. PT Arutala opens internship opportunities for Graphic Design Interns and Marketing Communication Interns. In addition, PT Arutala Digital Innovation also offered job vacancies in the fields of Business Development Officer, AR/VR (Unity 3D) Engineer, and Project Manager.

The company, which has spread across 29 countries, is always open to collaborative opportunities with the community to make Polygon Group better. The first day of UGM VCF 2021 was enthusiastically welcomed by more than 300 participants who took part in a series of the all-day event. Even amid a pandemic, UGM VCF 2021 was expected to provide great benefits for final-year students looking for internship opportunities in companies and fresh graduates looking for employment or information about graduate studies.
