UGM, in collaboration with Asian Paints Indonesia Inc. hosted a Career Webinar entitled “Being A Leader: Mastery Your Strategy to Set Up Your Career” on Friday (21/5). More than 100 participants attended this event through the Zoom Meeting Room.
Secretary to Directorate of Partnerships, Alumni and Global Initiatives, Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt. said that the webinar provided an excellent opportunity because Asian Paints Inc. is one of the largest companies in Asia and would certainly continue to recruit the best talents from campus. Therefore, the webinar delivered information on preparing for the requirement and bridging to the desired job or career.
“We must make the most of this rare opportunity,” he said
The Human Resources Manager of Asian Paints Indonesia Inc., Alauddin, also said that the company always recruited the best talents on campus.
“Asian Paints always regards the employee as company assets. Therefore we will forge their competencies to differ from others, “he said.
Asian Paints Indonesia Inc. has three work cultures, namely innovative, open and interactive, and appreciative. Of these three work cultures, continued Alauddin, the company always strived to create a work environment that can increase the employees’ productivity.
Director of Sales & Marketing of Asian Paints Indonesia Inc., Sameer Wadhera, delivered the first presentation. He had much experience in the industry and then shared his experiences in every position he had achieved. Sameer said that everyone should hone their intuition and be ready to take part in the game-changer. On this occasion, Sameer also explained the significance of leadership. Being a leader meant hearing all the members and giving employees room to test their ideas to improve the company. He said that we must try all opportunities to achieve the best position.
During the pandemic, Asian Paints Inc. increased up to 300%. This achievement, said Sameer, required a capable strategy. There were three things measured. First was the product improvement to meet market needs. Second was available service and supply chain. Third was the reliable data to improve consumer confidence.
Related to human resources, we had to deepen our knowledge into a specific one, then hone our practical skills by participating in a project during our study or internship. Later it would show how we could work as a team and contribute directly to the community. The experiences will provide us the problem-solving skills in this changing era.
Last was integrity, which must be strengthened before choosing a job. Besides, each individual must also be ready to face the changes. Sameer hoped that through this webinar there would be talents developing with Asian Paints Indonesia Inc since there were many opportunities available.
On this occasion, PT Asian Paints Indonesia also welcomed the final-year students to intern. The internship was for six months, and they would also participate in the field project. Also, they could gain many other benefits such as salary, accommodation, and insurance during the internship. The positions available were in finance, sales & marketing, engineering, technology, and logistics.
This webinar was expected to provide students information on the preparation to seek employment. They could also improve the strategies in industrial world competition and face any challenges ahead.
