Directorate of Partnerships, Alumni, and Global Initiatives UGM through the Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations hosted the Dissemination of Certified Student Internship Program, second batch on Monday (14/6) through the Zoom Meeting Room. Around 250 students attended the event.
Head Chief of Sub-directorate of Alumni Relations, Dr. Sulistyowati, S.S., M.Hum., explained the implementation of the program. She stated that programs organized by UGM are collaborated with SOEs, which are member of Forum Human Capital Indonesia (FHCI). On top of that, it is in line with Kampus Merdeka by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The implementation of this internship program will last for six months to estimate that the competencies obtained on campus can later be added to the skills acquired in the field through internship activities.
The internship will last for six months. It is estimated to cover the skills should be acquired n the university plus skills gained in the affiliated partners.
She also explained the general and specific requirements, the registration process, and any preparations to measure before taking the internship. She emphasized that the internship will benefit the interns with experience and also networking.
First, students need to register at Simaster. Then they choose the location of interest along with study program recommendation. Next, student will receive an announcement of match up of SOEs needs and the availability of the university, and last is the internship. One of the things that are emphasized for applicants is to be able to describe their skills because this is a significant consideration for being accepted as an intern.
The high demand of industry opens up many opportunities for students to intern in several companies. Also, there is a possibility the company will directly recruit after the students complete the internship program.
This program is a synergy of the government, universities, and corporate partners to accommodate students to implement their knowledge in work. The dissemination was expected to encourage students to take part in the internship program as their preparation before they graduated.
