Following the Kampus Merdeka program, UGM hosted a webinar entitled “Greeting the Corporate Partners of Certified Internship and Independent Study Programs, Kampus Merdeka” on Saturday (3/7). More than 160 final-year students enthusiastically attended the event. Eights corporate partner delivered the webinar.
Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., Secretary of the Directorate of Partnerships, Alumni, and Global Initiatives, stated in her welcoming speech that this event would broaden the participants’ insight on the programs directly from the partners.
Next in line was Tutus Kusuma, representing the Communication & Promotion Division of the Microcredential Sub-Working Team of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Tutus said the program was well-designed to prepare graduates to be excellent human resources who will be well-prepared for global and national work. Interns have many opportunities as around 20,000 available positions.
Hosted by Dr. Muhsin Al Anas, S.Pt., the partners delivered their webinar, including Lazada Indonesia, Unilever Indonesia, Bank Indonesia Institute, Great Giant Foods, PT Evans Indonesia, Edufarmer Foundation, Berau Coal, and the Indonesian Parliament.
Not only sharing about their company profile, they also share any information on the available positions for internship. In the past, they had a similar program, yet the plus point is that the internship will receive credits in their academic transcripts. On top of that, the interns would directly contribute to the company projects both for innovation or problem solving.
Suppose that the students would intern in the Indonesian Parliament, they would then participate in the policy-making process or in the field projects. Other partners also offered the same manner with the Indonesian Parliament.
The recruitment process is generally the same. Starting with applicant screening and the final step interviews. Interns should not be worry as they will be supervised by a mentor during the program. That being so, this program is a concrete collaboration between corporate partners and universities to produce qualified human resources.
Last, the room for discussion was opened to follow up the presentation. There were three breakout rooms, and the participants could freely choose the companies and had a fruitful discussion.
It was expected that this webinar would be able to provide the participants with extensive information on the program. Also, hopefully, it would increase the students’ interests to join this program
