Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with Samora Group, held a webinar entitled “Plan Your Success: Career Planning for Fresh Graduates” on Monday, (26/7) through the Zoom Meeting Room. This activity was attended by 120 final year students from various universities.
Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., Director of Partnership, Alumni, and Global Initiatives, stated that the webinar aims to give students an understanding of the working culture in corporations. Not only it enriches the knowledge, but also it builds the participants’ mindset to be in line with the industry. Besides it is one Kampus Merdeka program, this event also opens opportunities for participants, especially for final year students or alumni, for internships or careers at the Samora Group.
Dr. Danang also conveyed the importance of literacy in the learning process in the 21st-century era, which is very closely related to digital.
“Learning skills related to digital is very important regardless of your study field,” he concluded.
Suhaila Daud, Samora Group’s Head of Talent Acquisition and Organizational Development kickstarted the webinar by introducing the company profile. Samora Group is a corporate organization with a mission to bring positive development. It has the vision to become a leading company in Indonesia. Career opportunities at the Samora Group are also quite wide open for fresh graduates.
Next in line was Bambang Yapri, HR Director of the Samora Group, explaining the career planning for fresh graduates. Widely known as Bambang, he invited the participant to understand the perception of the past and the future. Upon graduation, alumni will face a world without assumptions, a reality.
In his opinion, success is interpreted differently by everyone. This is because everyone has their own standard.
“No need to worry whether we succeed or not because success is not a competition,” he said.
He added that success cannot be detached from the hard work. Luck only comes due to the opportunity which meets readiness.
“First, know your passion. We may start with what is interesting for us to do or start with how we see things that are interesting for us to do,” he said.
After knowing your passion, he continued, be yourself and be the best version of yourself. This can be achieved by changing the past, starting things with control, and picking and choosing opportunities.
He said that our development definitely brings opportunities. So don’t be afraid to change into the best version of yourself.
Samora Group opens many opportunities for participants who want to interns. This program aims to introduce the sugarcane-based industry and provide insight into sugarcane plantations, the workers. It was expected to sparks interest and the competence of ready-to-work human resources from the millennial generation, especially students from West Nusa Tenggara. This internship program will last for 6 months with the learning methods Process in Boarding, Theory Learning, Practical Learning, and Case Study/Project/Presentation so that later interns can gain firsthand experience of the company’s working culture.
This webinar aimed to enrich information and opportunities for final-year students and recent graduates. In addition to knowledge, this webinar is expected to provide participants to prepare themselves before securing a job.
