The UGM Virtual Career Fair (VCF) November 2021 officially started on Tuesday (2/11) through the Zoom Meeting Room. This event will last for the next three days (2-4 November 2021). This event was attended by more than 250 participants, both from UGM and the public.
In her welcoming remark, Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., Director of Partnerships, Alumni, and Global Initiatives stated that UGM currently ranks first in the QS World University Ranking.
“We achieved it together, the academia, the managerial, and partner support for collaborating with UGM. For instance, through this UGM VCF event,” she said.
Dr. Puji hopes that this event can be a form of synergy to increase the employment of UGM students. In addition, through this event, student and alumni get the opportunity to interact directly with partners.
Next in line was a presentation delivered by the DIY Manpower and Transmigration Office. They explained the preparation for the professional world. He elaborated how and the strategies of the Manpower and Transmigration Office to reduce the number of unemployed after graduation. It includes finalizing goals, choosing whether to become employees or entrepreneurs, government steps in providing job vacancies, and optimizing the media as a means of information.
Resonating the previous speaker, Bank BRI representative also explained the preparations for the future. One of which is to keep innovating and transforming in the digital era. Then as social beings, we also have to collaborate in various fields to hone our soft skills and develop ourselves in various situations.
Following the webinar, the event was continued with company profile presentations, and campus hiring. It featured representatives from Cahaya Bangsa Classical School, an educational institution that uses a classical Christian approach; PT Bumi Daya Plaza, a subsidiary of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero), which is engaged in building management, construction, power engineering, and e-payment services; BitHealth, a provider of digital solutions and services in the healthcare sector to help health service providers transform their business operations to be more effective and efficient; PT New Ratna Motor (Toyota Nasmoco), an automotive company that does not only focus on selling car units, but also in after-sales services, namely repair shops (vehicle repair) and spare parts (spare parts providers); and PT JTrust Indonesia Tbk, a bank owned by one of the leading financial groups from Japan and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Each company opens vacancies for students and alumni who are interested in pursuing a career in partner companies. The event run interactively between partners and participants.
Participants are expected to ask questions and take as much benefit as possible as preparation for landing in the professional world. At the same time, they could determine which companies match their interests and passions.
