The meeting discussion on alumni and career development was warmly welcomed by Dr. Sulistyowati, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the UGM Alumni Office, and her team.
The objective of this discussion was to enhance the effectiveness of career centers at both institutions and share experiences and insights regarding career center management. The discussion also covered steps that have been implemented and challenges encountered in tracer study data collection.
Tracer studies, a key initiative of the UGM Alumni Office, play a crucial role in tracking alumni career progression across various sectors, including government, private companies, and entrepreneurship. Tracer studies also serve as a platform for alumni to provide feedback and suggestions for university improvement.
A key focus of the discussion was how universities can improve alumni response rates in tracer studies. Strategies employed by UGM to boost alumni participation were extensively discussed. Emphasizing the importance of introducing tracer studies early to students and explaining its benefits for their alma mater were also highlighted. With a better understanding, alumni are expected to contribute valuable insights through tracer studies, supporting program and university development. Alumni responses not only reflect appreciation but also demonstrate collaborative efforts between universities and alumni to enhance educational quality and career development.
It is expected that UGM and Universitas Semarang will continue to strengthen their collaboration in managing career centers. Through synergistic efforts, career centers will become effective hubs connecting students with job opportunities, improving career prospects, and fostering strong relationships between alumni and their alma mater.
