On Saturday (20/1) at the Bangka Belitung Governor’s Office, the UGM Alumni (KAGAMA) held an alumni gathering. The event was attended by over 50 KAGAMA members from Bangka Belitung. This alumni gathering acted as an important moment for interaction, sharing experiences, and forging collaborations in various fields.
The event began with a welcome speech from the Chairman of KAGAMA Bangka Belitung, who expressed gratitude to all attendees dressed in local traditional attire as a tribute to regional culture.
“Thank you to Prof. Indra, Bu Wiwid, Bu Lies, and Mas Untung for their cooperation in making this event successful. I hope all KAGAMA Babel members continue to maintain unity and not be divided,” he said.
The Chairman also announced upcoming collaborations with other alumni associations such as ITB, UI, Unsri, UGB, and IPB for joint activities like beach clean-ups and blood donations before Ramadan. KAGAMA Babel will also oversee inclusive village programs and work with the Ministry to empower youth through career enhancement training. Additionally, there will be a project to plant 1,000 trees, including tin-producing areas for reclamation land.
Wirastuti Widyatmanti, Ph.D., head of the Strategic Management Bureau, furthermore expressed her gratitude to the participants for organizing the meeting. She emphasized the importance of maintaining UGM’s integrity and accountability and expressed gratitude to alumni who remain a top priority for the university.
Prof. Dr. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, M.B.A., Head of the Quality Assurance and University Reputation Unit, addressed the alumni and provided updates on UGM. He highlighted UGM’s strong motto and its ongoing growth and development. He also praised the alumni activities in Bangka Belitung for their direct impact on the local community. Prof. Indra shared information on recent UGM projects, including the development of the GIK (Innovation and Creativity Hub) as an eco-friendly building, and the construction of official places of worship for five religions in Indonesia.
The final speech was given by Prof. Anwar Sanusi, M.P.A., Ph.D., Chairman II of PP KAGAMA. He thanked UGM and KAGAMA Babel for organizing the event and noted that while UGM is recognized as the best university in Indonesia, there is still much work to be done by KAGAMA.
“It is important for us to collaborate and work together to enhance the skills and job readiness of alumni. Hopefully, UGM will continue to be a place that benefits everyone,” he said.
The event continued with a discussion session on regional programs for youth training, collaborations between Bangka universities and UGM to improve quality, and addressing strategic issues. The new KAGAMA Bangka Belitung administration for the 2023-2025 term was also inaugurated, with Mr. Warsangka as Chairman. Additionally, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was signed between KAGAMA Bangka Belitung and the Vocational Training and Productivity Center of Belitung.
It is hoped that this event will further strengthen the relationship between UGM alumni in Bangka Belitung and contribute positively to the local community. Increasing alumni involvement in social and regional development activities is a key asset in advancing education and society.
